Apple has plans for the so-called iPad Mini and it may be merely a matter involving getting manufacturing up and running, reported by NPD DisplaySearch.
"For the 7.85-inch panel, there's a business plan for it, there is a bulk manufacturing target for it. So we know that it's for Apple," Richard Shim, an NPD DisplaySearch analyst, informed CNET.
"I do not know the name of the product, having said that I know it will be a tablet," he said.
NPD DisplaySearch speaks to companies in the "supply chain" -- firms that create the components and assemble products.
And also Shim stated development is probably imminent. "Almost everything is being set up. We realize the specific lines. We understand how many panels can potentially come out of the sheets of glass."
That said, Shim added that certitude will be challenging until he has verification that production has in fact started. Of course, no-one can know precisely when that might be. Now there will be a lot of hype around that product.
"These are usually supply chain indications. From the very nature of the supply chain, these kinds of plans can be modified," he stated.
And there were even more supply chain indications these days through a study on a Chinese-language Web site.
The report states the Apple iPad Mini makes use of an IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) screen, technology that yields finer displays, along with some other benefits. We realize that the visual elements will be amazing and we wouldn't imagine anything less from Apple.
Though Shim could not confirm an IGZO display for the Apple iPad Mini, he did state Apple is informing its suppliers that it would like to move products to that technology. It's cutting edge and Apple loves to always be ahead of their competition by staying a stride ahead of them.
Related records have stated that this Apple iPad Mini will be listed at $299. Estimates for development runs are around 35 million products in 2013. If the sales from the regular Apple ipad give any hints on what exactly is to come, then the mini Ipad will certainly be a big success.
