Is Using Modded Controllers Illegal

By Eleanor Thompson

It seems that no one is ever satisfied with their gaming skills and are always looking for ways to play better. For this reason, many are beginning to use modded controllers to have that upper edge. These devices allow the player to get rounds off much faster than they can with the standard controllers.

The devices can be purchased for a rather hefty sum of money for gaming systems like Xbox. A kit can also be purchased to modify an existing device to create the rapid-fire ability. The kits will require a little bit of knowledge in putting together the necessary wiring to make the device work properly.

Many regular players on the live sites are complaining about these rapid-fire devices. The device allows the player to fire almost double the amount of shots as normal. While, using them will not get a player banned, many of these complaining will not play against them.

Many players argue that the need for the controller is not necessary. They contend that if a player learns to play the games and works on their accuracy, they will be able to fire quickly enough to be competitive. These players feel that the use of the device does not make for a fair game.

Naturally, those using the device do not see it that way. They believe they should be able to use anything that will help them win. They argue that when a soldier goes into battle, they make sure they have all available tools for the fight. They contend they are no different when using the device.

To the dismay of many players, the devices are not considered illegal. However, it has been noted that the main players in resale of the consoles are not taking any chances by offering the modded controllers for sale. They do not believe they can risk being at odds with the console developers.
