What Is Active Alignment All About

By Elinor Tran

With developments in technology the manufacturing and automotive industries have seen many transformations. One of the transformations is digitization of systems. Digitizing systems has increased safety of machines and vehicles. Active alignment has improved our lives significantly and all we have to thank is computers.

Modern cars come with cameras which have been actively aligned to enable the driver view everything around the vehicle. Monitor are fitted on the dashboard to let the driver view all the camera views. When its night time the infra red night vision enables the driver to still use the cameras for an even better view than looking outside.

This technology has helped many drivers to avoid tricky situations. Apart from just providing a view the cameras also issue a warning when the automobile is too close to another vehicle or pedestrian. The driver is therefore able to avoid a large percentage of accidents. Actively aligned vehicles have recorded the least accidents.

Sensors are incorporated in the vehicle control system in such a way that they can take over when the driver is unable to control the vehicle. The sensors can force the car to brake to avoid accidents. Airbags also automatically come out when an accident takes place. The cameras also have an analog video recorder which records information. In the event of an accident crash investigators use this information to access the accident cause.

Both planar and single channel systems are utilized to actively align processes of manufacturing. Quality performing products are acquired easily because adjustment is made on the manufacturing processes dynamically. Safety for workers has also improved because they no longer have to make the changes by hand.

It has become very easy to make small adjustments and calculate small measurements. This has led to improved performance of the products made. Another advantage of active alignment over passive ones is cost. Actively aligned systems are cheaper.

A Few Practical Guidelines For Purchasing A Pair Of Cordless Loudspeakers

By Lisa Stein

Are you searching to acquire a brand new a set of wireless speakers for your home? You may be dazzled by the number of options you have. In order to make an informed selection, it is best to familiarize yourself with common terms. One of these terms is known as "signal-to-noise ratio" and is not frequently understood. I am going to help clarify the meaning of this expression.

While searching for a pair of cordless loudspeakers, you initially are going to check the cost, power among additional basic criteria. However, after this initial selection, you are going to still have numerous types to choose from. Next you are going to concentrate more on several of the technical specifications, like signal-to-noise ratio in addition to harmonic distortion. An important criterion of wireless loudspeakers is the signal-to-noise ratio. To put it simply, the signal-to-noise ratio shows how much hum or hiss the speakers will add to the audio signal. This ratio is generally shown in decibel or "db" for short.

Evaluating the noise level of several sets of cordless speakers can be accomplished fairly simply. Simply gather a couple of versions that you wish to evaluate and short circuit the transmitter audio inputs. After that put the wireless speaker gain to maximum and verify the level of static by listening to the loudspeaker. You will hear some amount of hissing and/or hum coming from the speaker. This noise is produced by the wireless loudspeaker itself. Make sure that the volume of each set of wireless speakers is pair to the same amount. Otherwise you will not be able to objectively evaluate the amount of static between different models. The general rule is: the smaller the level of noise that you hear the higher the noise performance.

If you prefer a set of cordless speakers with a small level of hissing, you may look at the signal-to-noise ratio figure of the specification sheet. Most makers will publish this figure. cordless speakers with a high signal-to-noise ratio are going to output a small level of hiss. There are a number of reasons why wireless loudspeakers are going to add some form of noise or other unwanted signal. Transistors and resistors which are part of every modern wireless speaker by nature create noise. Because the built-in power amplifier overall noise performance is mostly determined by the performance of elements situated at the amplifier input, makers are going to attempt to select low-noise components while designing the amplifier input stage of their cordless loudspeakers.

The wireless broadcast itself also causes noise which is most noticable with products that utilize FM transmission at 900 MHz. The amount of noise is also dependent upon the level of cordless interference from other transmitters. Newer products are going to generally use digital music broadcast at 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz. This type of music broadcast provides higher signal-to-noise ratio than analog style transmitters. The amount of static is dependent on the resolution of the analog-to-digital converters in addition to the quality of other parts.

A lot of latest cordless speakers have built-in power amps that include a wattage switching stage that switches at a frequency around 500 kHz. This switching noise may result in a certain level of speaker distortion yet is generally not included in the signal-to-noise ratio which merely considers noise in the range of 20 Hz and 20 kHz.

The signal-to-noise ratio is measured by inputting a 1 kHz test signal 60 dB underneath the full scale and measuring the noise floor of the signal generated by the built-in amplifier. The amplification of the cordless loudspeaker is pair such that the full output wattage of the built-in amp can be realized. Then, the noise floor between 20 Hz and 20 kHz is calculated and the ratio to the full-scale signal computed. The noise signal at other frequencies is eliminated through a bandpass filter throughout this measurement.

Frequently you will find the expression "dBA" or "a-weighted" in your cordless loudspeaker spec sheet. A weighting is a method of expressing the noise floor in a more subjective fashion. In other words, this technique tries to express how the noise is perceived by a human. Human hearing is most sensitive to signals around 1 kHz whereas signals below 50 Hz and above 14 kHz are barely noticed. Thus an A-weighting filter will amplify the noise floor for frequencies which are easily heard and suppress the noise floor at frequencies that are hardly perceived. Many cordless loudspeaker are going to show a higher A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio than the un-weighted ratio.

Netbooks - The New Wave Of Computing

By Arnold Waterborn

In the old days of computing, many of us were tied to our desk top computers that were large and ungainly and couldn't be moved from the desk where we sat. When laptops were invented, they were at first very expensive. But as they got more affordable, more of us bought them and were thrilled that we could carry our computing around with us.

The viewing screens on they are much smaller than a standard laptop including a smaller sized keyboard. Also, netbooks are very light in weight as a little as 1 kg. Lots of people now use they more and more because of its size and weight, and its ability to go anywhere easily.

The netbook is often referred to as a mini laptop, having a much smaller capacity and smaller in size that the laptop. But it is much more capable than the average smart phone or personal digital assistant.

Netbooks are much lighter and cheaper to manufacture and use, they can also be considered as electronic diaries. They can be a practical alternatives to costly laptops and their associated costs.

They can not be as effective as laptops, but are a lot more simple and easy to use. You can use basic programs on a netbook, but more graphically designed programs will not run on netbooks. Netbooks vs. laptops each use different hardware.

One difference between the average laptop and a netbook is that the netbook does not have a disc drive. Another is that they are much smaller, with a small keyboard and screen, which could be a problem for some people. Still, there is no problem in connecting to other sources and in being able to tote it around, These are the selling points of the netbook and makes it the favorite of many.

Despite drawbacks as we have cited, the netbooks or mini netbooks as they are sometimes called are going to have a bright future. People want the latest devices that are small and that can be bought inexpensively. The netbook gives you that capability for sure and market analysts are predicting that their value will only rise in the future.

Laptops and notebooks may be phased out in the future, and will be probably be replaced by the netbooks. Netbooks are not appealing to children because intense games and programs will not work on them. Adults are likely to use they at the office, work, or at homes or socially. Adults are drawn to the they because of there simplicity and cheap prices. Since, price is a huge determining factor along with ease of transport. Netbooks are here to stay, and will be the go to device soon!

What to Look For When Buying Small Business Computers

By Andrea Eldridge

Almost half of America's workforce is employed by small business. A report released in May 2012 by the National Economic Council says 60 million Americans are employed by 28 million small businesses. Balancing productivity and costs can be difficult for any business trying to make it in today's rough economic climate.

Travelling around the country for TV and radio appearances, the one question I get a lot is, "What kind of technology does my small office need, and what can I pass on?" Without any further delay, I present my "What to Buy & What to Avoid" column specifically tailored for the small business owner.

Buy Laptops, not Desktops (or Tablets):

When making a choice about your small office computers you really have two choices, notebooks or desktops. With a desktop you have the most customizability. You can easily upgrade or add to a tower as you need. For example, you can add extra graphic capability, more monitors or extra storage space. Another feature that makes desktop machines useful is the ability to hook up extra office equipment such as printers and back up devices. Their biggest drawback is travel. They make it difficult to easily work from home.

According to a Yankee Group report published in 2008, more than 50 million U.S. workers are considered mobile (i.e. away from their primary workspace more than 20% of the time). To a small business owner or executive, the ability to access a work project when away from the office is often pivotal to success and productivity.

To help mobile workers many small businesses will set up an FTP or a file server, to give employees access to important documents, but if your company uses specialty software or a customer management system setting up all of these employees' computers to access the program can be expensive. A compromise could be to use a remote access solution such as logmein to control office computers while away, however connectivity and speed could make it difficult.

Using docking stations with notebook computers could be an easy solution. You'll be able to maintain flexibility while keeping costs down. You can use a docking station to connect to several peripherals using only one cable, like a USB. Many will come with prepackaged software that will allow you to use your computer with the lid closed so you can hook up a monitor and full size keyboard and mouse. With a notebook you can work from a coffee shop just as easily as from the office, which will make hitting deadlines easier. You won't need any additional software to connect to your office machine because, well, this is your office machine. This is ideal because when you get back to the office you can simply plug in and keep working right where you left off.

I like the Toshiba Dynadock U3.0 Universal USB Docking Station which works with any Windows-based computer and is available for around $130. Its built-in video card supports two large monitors and the HDMI-out port allows you to view 1080p HD videos or games on an external display. It supports network data transfer over USB 3.0 and surround sound through either HDMI or 3.5mm audio. Compared to the two to four USB ports on many laptops, the six USB slots will increase the number of peripherals you can connect.

Do you have an expensive device everyone seems to need? Rather than buying multiple big screen monitors or projectors use the universal docking station so everyone can access it. Then whoever is running the quarterly meeting can connect without any fuss.

What about Tablets? When it comes to tablets, even though they are amazing and easy to use, they don't have the same kind of functionality most small offices will need, and they don't have the horsepower to replace a fully functioning laptop or desktop computer.

Choosing Toner Cartridges For Your Printer

By Claudia Campos

When purchasing toner cartridges there are various factors to take into account. You must decide on the type of cartridge, the quality and the price you are willing to pay. For some people cost will be the deciding factor while for others quality is more important. Most people will usually go for the option which offers the best quality for the lowest price.

You may want to purchase a cartridge which is manufactured by the same people who made your printer. There are those who choose this option because the manufacturers obviously offer certain guarantees to those who use their products. They often say that they cannot guarantee their printers if you do not use their cartridges as others are not as good for your printer. However, the genuine units are very expensive.

A very cost effective option is a compatible or generic cartridge. This type of cartridge is manufactured entirely from new parts although it will have a different appearance to the genuine article. The print quality is usually just as good as a genuine cartridge and these devices are very popular due to to the fact that they are inexpensive.

Refilled units also have a place in the market, particularly with those people who want to go for an environmentally friendly option. A brand new cartridge requires the burning of petroleum in the manufacturing process. Recycling of the devices helps to minimize this.

The market is so full of people offering you special deals these days that it is easy to be taken for a ride. It is a fairly simple process to refill a cartridge or just to replace a few parts and offer the cartridge as being a compatible one. You will part with your hard earned money for an inferior product which does not work properly.

All reputable online stores will offer guarantees or warranties. Such a guarantee enables you to purchase with confidence and know that you are not wasting your money on inferior toner cartridges.

Let's Learn More Facts About The Family Of Optics

By Keith Evans

Have you heard of the term optics? For some, this term means a subdivision of physics that deals with the study of the lights. And for those who love gadgets for haunting and other related activities, optics mean a group of gadgets that are used for viewing things from a distance, binoculars and monocular are just two of the examples. Let us get more of this topic.

After finding the definition of optics, it is time for us to find facts about the things that go with. What are the different kinds of optics? As we go on with this article, we will be able to unveil facts regarding the variety of optics and the purposes that it can provide us.

Binoculars are part of the family of optics. Maybe a lot of you already heard of this gadget. It is called as such because it allows the user to look with both eyes to the things that he wanted to see from a distance. It comes in variety of sizes starting from the opera binoculars up to the heavy duty military binoculars. It has been in the business since the 17th century. Way back centuries ago, there are two basic types of binoculars that you can choose from, the Galilean binoculars and the Prism Binoculars. This tool has been used by the tourist to view things better and clearer. And it is also made for the haunters as they haunt for animals.

What are monocular? This has only a few distinctions with the first kind that I have introduced to you awhile ago. Monocular is also used as a viewing tool. The only difference is that, it only comes in two dimensional views while the binoculars come in three dimensional view making things viewed a little different. Monocular, obviously, are lighter and smaller that the binoculars. It is use from the simplest up to the most complex activities. Actually, it is advised to be used by students who have poor eye sight so that they can be able to read what is written on the chalkboard.

Third type that we are going to speak about is the telescope. We are very much familiar with this one since we are dealing with this since we were studying. We all know that this is the tool being used by the astronomers as they discover more of the sky and the stars. It is a wrong perception that telescope is sole use for astronomy purposes. As a matter of fact, you can use it wherever and whenever you wanted to provide there is electromagnetic radiation or visible light. It is in 16th century when the first telescope is made. Since then, inventors never stopped on improving it to cater the needs of a lot of people all over the world.

Optics is part of our system. Unnoticeably, we are using it in our daily activities. Having basic knowledge about them is a must so that when emergency comes, you are always ready.
